What is 'Special Chabbis' about?

Akshay Kumar’s 'Special Chabbis' has been kept completely under wraps. Entire team has taken a lot of effort in keeping the news underground on what the film is about.

Officially, 'Special Chabbis' is an edgy gritty heist drama and the makers and is said to be based on the real-life daring heist dated 19-Mar-1987 where an unknown man posing as CBI officer Mon Singh recruited 26 men and executed a daylight raid on the Opera House branch of Tribhovandas Bhimji Zaveri in Mumbai and disappeared with jewellery worth lakhs.

However sources close to the unit reveal that everyone is trying to underplay the role of Akshay Kumar role, based on Mithilesh Kumar Srivastava, better known as Natwarlal. Natwarlal was the inspiration behind Amitabh Bachchan’s 1979 film 'Mr Natwarlal'.

According to the urban legend, Natwarlal was con man known for repeatedly selling the Taj Mahal, Red Fort along with Rashtrapati Bhavan. Till today, no one has been able to catch him and not much is known about his death. In the film, Akshay Kumar like Natwarlal uses a lot of aliases and is a master of disguises to dupe people. He is also cheats number of industrialists taking from them huge money in cash. 

Directed by Neeraj Pandey of A Wednesday fame it has Akshay Kumar, Manoj Bajpai, Jimmy Shergill, and Anupam Kher in pivotal roles.
